Angela Corey is best choice
I must confess to some major head-scratching following Ron Littlepage's recent column on the local state attorney race.
I did a double-take at Littlepage's bold assertion that plenty of people in the legal community think Angela Corey would be a disaster as state attorney.
As a Jacksonville native and member of the legal community, I strongly differ.
I grew up watching Corey fight for crime victims. She is one of the reasons I chose to become an attorney.
I think the true disaster would be if Corey does not get elected.
In an era where Jacksonville is the murder capital of Florida, we need a chief prosecuting officer who works with law enforcement officials, not getting at odds with them.
The endorsement of Corey by all three North Florida sheriffs, as well as the Fraternal Order of Police (more than a year before the election), speaks volumes about her suitability for the position of state attorney.
What Jacksonville needs is a breath of fresh air in the State Attorney's Office, not more of the same.
It is time for a change, and Corey is the one candidate who can truly accomplish it.
ALISON E. SCHOENBERGER,
